Ileke Travels: Agra Part II

The last site that we visited in Agra was the UNESCO World Heritage site, Agra Fort. At the end of his life, Shah Jahan, who built the Taj Mahal as a memorial to his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal, was deposed and restrained in the fort by his son, Aurangzeb. Initially intended as a military structure Shah Jahan turned it into a palace. The fort's wall stand over 20m in height and it encompasses 2,5km in circumference. Like many palaces it has impressive courtyards and is beautifully decorated.

Our next and final stop on the trip was the city of Jaipur, which will be featured in the next post. I hope you've been enjoying this series of posts! Please feel free to comment below and connect with me through social media. Links for all my accounts are below!

Thank you so much for visiting!
