Posts of the Week
If you haven't had a chance to read my two posts this week, you can check them out here! On Tuesday, I continued the discussion about my mental health journey and how I journal and keep a planner, to take care of myself (How I've Dealt with Anxiety/Depression Part II). Yesterday, I shared all the deals and sales from Nordstrom, Topshop, J.Crew, Francesca's & Old Navy that will be taking place this memorial day weekend (Memorial Day Weekend Deals & Sales).

Master of None - The Netflix original series, co-written and starring Aziz Ansari, is back for its second season, which is just as engaging and beautifully made as the first. The show explores Ansari's character Dev, and his life in New York City as an aspiring actor. In the second season he lands his dream job and falls in love, but has to deal with the complications of both. It's not all serious though, with Ansari you are guaranteed lots of laughs along the way. There were also so many powerfully written episodes this season, that examined young people revealing their true selves to their parents. In one episode Dev, who comes from a Muslim background, has to come clean to his parents about his love of pork. Another episode (my favorite of the season) examines the process of Dev's best friend Denise, coming out, to her family over the course of twenty years. What was so brilliant about the episode, is that its centered around Thanksgiving, a holiday that is difficult for many LGBTQ people whose families don't accept them for who they are. It also highlighted the power of friendship and the acceptance we all yearn for when revealing our authentic selves to the world. Season 1 & 2 are currently available on Netflix.

Thaina of Secrets Des Soeurs, (a style blog she and runs with her equally stylish sister), oozes confidence and elegance. The minute I heard her name I was reminded of one of my favorite shows growing up, (Taina), and a new favorite, (D.R.A.M.). Pop culture references aside, Thaina's style is effortless and breathtaking and her hair is GOALS. It's also fun to follow a fellow bride-to-be 💍 You can find Thaina on her blog on instagram! 🇭🇹
Last weekend we spent Sunday in Detroit and got a late lunch, with some of our friends at where else??? (Vincente's Cuban Cuisine). We had a little time before meeting them, so Gabe and I walked around Downtown, and I made Gabe snap some pictures with me. We took one at the Spirit of Detroit statute, and the lady who took the photo for us thought that we were tourists! 😂 I guess we're not as cool as we like to think!
What do you have planned for this weekend? Unfortunately, the weather here is supposed to be rainy and grey all throughout the weekend and also on Memorial Day 😒 however it will be nice to spend that time with friends and family!
