Friday Five: August 10th 2018

Hi Friends! Instead of my usual Week in Review which I haven't been keeping up, I wanted to try something new where I highlight a few things from my previous week that have impacted me. This could be an article or book that i've read or I'm reading. It could be a show I'm watching, a movie i've seen, something I want to buy, or something that I've done. I hope you all have a beautiful weekend and I want to thank you for following along as I try new things here at Segilola-Ileke!

Big Moment of the Week

This week I tried something new and filmed a video for YouTube and Instagram's IG TV! It was one of the most nerve-wracking things I've ever done and let me tell you, it took hours to get it right! I've always loved watching YouTube videos and appreciate how much vloggers share and how they connect with their audiences, but I now have a greater appreciation for how much work goes into producing video content! From setting up to shooting, making sure your light is right, your camera is focused, and editing, making videos is no joke! I hope to share more of myself with you all through video content and, I see it as an extension of my writing here. I hope you all follow along on this new journey!

Product of the Week

Glossier Lash Slick Mascara

When I say that this Glossier Lash Slick has been a game changer for me, I mean it. As you know, I love all things Glossier, and this mascara is no different. I have pretty sensitive eyes and so many of the eyeliners and, mascaras I've tried in the past have irritated my eyes to no end. I'm talking eyes watering, eyelids twitching, and, stuff getting on my contacts. However, this product is so gentle that I have had no issues whatsoever. The formula is thick, so it grabs on to all my lashes and makes my eyes pop and look awake. I've honestly been using it every day for the past two months and wish that Boy Brow (another one of my favorites) came in such a large tube. Also, it washes off so quickly at the end of the day with my Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser. I would highly recommend it!

Growing up the walls of my room were covered in pictures from women’s magazines and, as someone who grew up reading women’s magazines, probably when I was a little too young, it’s so inspiring to see so many beautiful black women on September covers this year. I would have loved as a pre-teen/teenager to see myself reflected more in those issues. Representation matter y'all!

Home Decor Inspiration

Gabe and I have been obsessed with houses recently. We're hoping to buy our own home in the next year or so, and are always looking for inspiration on Pinterest and HGTV or scrolling through Zillow and Curbed Detroit

My actual dream is to remodel and flip houses, and, who knows maybe one day we can be the black Chip and Joanna Gaines! I love the color of the cabinets in the picture above, we would like to do colored cabinets for our upper cabinets and then have white lower cabinets to break it up a bit. I also want to have patterned tile for my backsplash, instead of glass.

My Upcoming Week

CultureFit Yoga Pants  // Nike Sneakers // Old Navy Sports Bra // Target Baseball Cap

If you follow me on Facebook and Instagram, I shared a little about my fitness and, wellness journey as of late. I gained around 30 pounds in the last year, and it's been hard feeling confident with how my body looks now. However, Gabe has been my biggest supporter as well as my workout partner/personal trainer these past few months which has made such a big difference. Though my body isn't where I want it to be just yet, I'm feeling stronger, have more energy and, mentally I feel stronger and clearer keeping a regular workout schedule. Gabe surprised me with these fun yoga pants and I absolutely love them! I want to hear how you stay motivated on your wellness journey in the comments!

I'm seeing Beyoncé and Jay- Z in concert on Monday and it is my FIRST. TIME. EVER. seeing her in concert! I'm so excited and I'm going to be playing EVERYTHING IS LOVE on repeat for the rest of the weekend. We will then be out of town for the rest of the next week for my brother-in-law's wedding in North Carolina. What are your plans for the weekend and the next week?

You can comment below or find me on Facebook, Instagram or email. I hope you have a fantastic weekend!

Thank you so much for visiting!
